Disabling or bypassing SmartSwitch

You can disable or bypass SmartSwitch by using the following methods:

Disable SmartSwitch

Use the BMCSSOFF DD statement to disable SmartSwitch via JCL. The utility notifies you that SmartSwitch has been disabled. For more information about the BMCSSOFF DD statement, see BMCSSOFF.

Bypass SmartSwitch

Set a new option, SMARTSWITCH, in the default options module (DOPTS) to bypass SmartSwitch altogether. LOADPLUS performs a single one-bit test initially. If you have specified SMARTSWITCH=NO to bypass SmartSwitch, the utility notifies you that SmartSwitch has been bypassed, and no subsequent SmartSwitch processing occurs.

Important

If you do not specify SMARTSWITCH=NO, the default is to enable SmartSwitch as described in this section. You do not need to reassemble and link option modules to enable SmartSwitch.

Automatic bypass

SmartSwitch is automatically bypassed in the following cases:

  • LOADPLUS is running in a worklist (for example, in the Change Manager, Catalog Manager, or DASD MANAGER PLUS product).
  • SYSPRINT is allocated to a data set.
