Setting user variables


To define or modify the values in your ISPF profile and a user POF, you can use the Options panels of the JCL Generation component.

Use the User Defined Variables Update panel to specify character variables. Each variable has a corresponding symbolic variable that you can use in job cards or data set prefixes.

To set the JCL options for user-defined variables

  1. Use the following menu selections to display the User Defined Variables Update panel (see below, User Defined Variables Update panel):

  2. Specify the values for the variables.The maximum length of a variable name is eight characters.
  3. (PTF BQU2861 applied) In the User REXX exec field, type the REXX exec member name to use for string substitution when generating JCL.
  4. Press END to save your changes, and to return to the DASD MANAGER PLUS Main Menu.
