+SVRMODETAPE

The +SVRMODETAPE parameter specifies whether tape servers will be separate address spaces or within the submitted primary job.

The values are defined as follows:

MIXED or M

The product creates a new task called TSVR in the BMC AMI Utilities primary address space. This task functions as a standard BMC AMI Utilities tape server. TSVR starts and runs while the monitor manages and monitors the tape work.

If the monitor finds an additional tape work and the value of +SVRTAPE(n) is greater than 1, the product starts an external tape server.

INTERNAL or I

TSVR starts in the primary address space while the monitor manages and monitors the tape work. No external tape server is required for server processing.

Important

The SmartSwitch feature processes with +SVRMODETAPE(I).

Important

INTERNAL or I requires the XCPYINIT automation control point be enabled so tape units might be pre-allocated for processing.  If EXIT 0 is present as the first executable line in the automation control point, it is disabled.  Removing this line enables the automation control point and allows +SVRMODETAPE(I) processing.


EXTERNAL or E

(default) The product starts an external tape server while the monitor manages and monitors the tape work.

TSVR starts in the primary address space. No external tape server is required.

+SVRMODETAPE(EXTERNAL)

An external tape server starts for server processing.

Example
+SVRMODETAPE(MIXED)

TSVR starts in the primary address space. The product starts an external tape server if additional tape work starts.
