Important We are integrating BMC AMI LOBMaster technology into the BMC AMI Reorg product and discontinuing BMC AMI LOBMaster as a separate product. For the latest integrated documentation, see BMC AMI Reorg for Db2 13.1.

DROP_PART

The DROP_PART option specifies whether the REORG TABLESPACE utility should delete the highest numbered trailing empty partitions in a partition-by-growth (PBG) table space when the entire table space is being reorganized as one unit.

DROP PART.png

Value

Description

NO

Specifies that BMC AMI Reorg does not delete any empty trailing partitions in a PBG table space.

YES

Specifies that BMC AMI Reorg deletes the empty trailing partitions in a PBG tablespace on successful completion of the Fast Switch phase.

Important

BMC AMI Reorg does not attempt the drop process on restart when the utility has failed during the Fast Switch phase.

When DROP_PART is not specified, BMC AMI Reorg behaves in accordance with the value of the configuration parameter DROP_PBG_PARTS, which specifies whether to honor the Db2 subsystem parameter REORG_DROP_PBG_PARTS. For a description of the REORG_DROP_PBG_PARTS subsystem parameter, see the DB2 Installation and Migration guide.

When DROP_PART is not specified and AUX YES is specified, partitions are not deleted, regardless of configuration parameter settings.

Important

BMC AMI Reorg ignores DROP_PART if either of the following conditions exists:

  • +FASTSWITCH(NO) is in effect.
  • The data capture process is activated for the underlying table.

Restriction

If BMC AMI Reorg AUX YES is invoked or the AUX YES is coded on the REORG command utility statement, BMC AMI Reorg issues message NGTU904 and routes control to the IBM utility DSNUTILB for final execution.
