Supporting OBJECTSET

BMC AMI Recovery Manager supports the OBJECTSET option of BMC AMI Recover when you specify BMC AMI Recover as the recovery utility. This option enables BMC AMI Recover to use of the repository to identify the objects in the object set, which means that you do not need to regenerate the recovery JCL when objects in the object set to change.

BMC AMI Recovery Manager generates the RECOVER OBJECTSET creator.objectsetName syntax in the recovery JCL.

The ARMBSET program (ARMBSET— OBJECTSET processing) is generated after a BMC AMI Recover step to issue a CHECK or REPAIR for each object in an OBJECTSET. With the implementation of OBJECTSET for BMC AMI Recover, ARMBSET is needed for the following reasons:

  • The Check Pend Action option (General-recovery-options and Recovery-utility-options) does not generate a step for CHECK or REPAIR when OBJECTSET syntax is generated.
  • You cannot use classic CHECK or REPAIR JCL, which would represent a static set of objects, because it may not match the contents of the OBJECTSET, which is dynamic.
