Task 2: Creating copies of repositories

These copies will be used to recover the BMC AMI Recovery Manager application and the R+/CHANGE ACCUM application (if installed).

It will also recover the BMCSYNC, BMCUTIL, (BMC.DB2.SPE2404)BMCUTIL2, and BMCXCOPY spaces that are needed by BMC utilities. You must recover the repository to use the data collection feature of the Recovery Management for Db2 solution.

Before you begin

Before you create copies of the repository and table spaces, perform the following steps:

  • Create an object set for the repository, then generate backup JCL (see Creating a repository object set for backup or recovery). Recovery of the repository will be necessary if you want to generate JCL through BMC AMI Recovery Manager at the disaster site.
  • If necessary, create an object set for BMC AMI Log Master, and then generate backup JCL.

Important

Recovering the repository includes the recovery of the BMCSYNC, BMCUTIL, (BMC.DB2.SPE2404)BMCUTIL2, and BMCXCOPY spaces that are required for BMC AMI Recover. It also includes the R+/CHANGE ACCUM and BMC AMI Log Master repositories, if these products are installed.

To create copies

  1. Verify that the copies are for the recovery site. (Although not required, using the recovery site designation is highly recommended.)
  2. Make copies and send the output media to an offsite location. For information about generating the backup JCL for the repository, see Generating-a-backup-job-interactively.
