Setting utility options

BMC AMI Recovery Manager enables you to specify backup and recovery utility options for object sets.

You can specify these options for a single object set using the online interface, or you can set options for multiple object sets using the ARMBGRP batch program (see ARMBGRP-Object-set-creation-and-maintenance).

To set or change utility options interactively

Start this procedure at the Object Set Edit panel, which you can reach by performing the following steps:

  1. In the BMC AMI Recovery for Db2 Main Menu, select 1. Appl object sets.
  2.  Enter an object set name or wildcard pattern to display one or more object sets.
  3. On the Object Set List panel, type S by the object set you want to select or SA to select all object sets on the Object Set List panel.

    Important

Selecting SA or multiple S entries merges the selected object sets after the options are set (or even if no options changed). BMC AMI Recovery Manager goes to the Save panel when you exit.

  4. Select Option 2. Object Set Edit from the Object List panel.

    Tip

Utility options can be set at the object set and subsystem levels. BMC AMI Recovery Manager uses the following override rules when necessary:

    • If you provide a value at the object set level, that value overrides the corresponding subsystem value and is applied to all objects in the target object set.
    • If you do not provide option values by object set, the subsystem values will be used when you are generating backup or recovery JCL.
    • If you do not provide option values at the subsystem level, BMC AMI Recovery Manager default values are used for recoveries and the defaults of the selected backup utility are used for backups.
