Creating new object set
Use this online procedure to build a new object set of objects for backup or recovery.
To start the build, select a method for object list generation, optionally edit the list, and then select and list those objects that are candidates for the backup or recovery. To build an object set starting with volume names, see Building-a-volume-object-set-in-batch-mode.
Before you begin
To perform this procedure, you need the following authorizations:
- EXECUTE authority for BMC AMI Recovery Manager
- DISPLAY DATABASE authority to list all objects in recover pending status when you attempt to build an object set of such objects
To build a new object set
Use the following procedure to build a new object set:
In the BMC AMI Recovery for Db2 Main Menu, select 2. Appl object set define. The Object Selection panel is displayed.

10. ARMBGPS - Select table spaces for ARMBGPS size balancing
11. Indexspace - Select indexes by indexspace pattern
12. Object Sets - Select table spaces and indexes by object set pattern

F7=Bkwd F8=Fwd F9=SWAP F10=LEFT F11=RIGHT F12=PREV- In the Object Selection panel, select one of the available object types to use as a starting point to create the new object set.
- The Selection for Object List Generation panel is displayed. This panel varies depending on the object selection method that you chose. Enter a wildcard pattern or the object name, then other information as required. For additional information about the fields on this panel, press F1 for help.
- Press Enter to continue processing.
- When the Object List panel displays the objects in the object set, you can choose to perform one or more of the following tasks:
- Add objects to the object set (see Adding-objects-to-an-object-set)
- Exclude one or more objects from further processing
- Exit or save the object set to the repository for later processing (see Saving-object-sets)
- Select a recovery point for the object set and continue with backup or recovery preparations (see To browse or update object set recovery options or Generating-recovery-JCL-in-batch for recovery information; Generating-a-backup-job-interactively for backup information)
- Change object set options (see Displaying-updating-and-deleting-backup-options-for-standard-copies)
- Report the plans and packages impacted by the object set (see Using-plan-and-package-impact-analysis-and-reporting)
