Generating a backup job interactively
BMC AMI Recovery Manager
allows you to generate a backup job interactively for the current object set.
You can submit the JCL for execution or save it for later scheduling.
Before you begin
To perform this procedure, you need the following authorizations (if you are not the creator of the object set):
- EXECUTE authority for the BMC AMI Recovery Manager Db2 plan
- TYPE A authority if you intend to save changes to the object set
- TYPE O authority if you do not intend to save changes to the object set
- Authority to update the output data set for the JCL
To generate a backup job
You start this procedure at the Object List panel that appears after you have created or retrieved a object set.
Select Gen Backup JCL foreground to generate JCL for all objects that have an acceptable status.
- When the JCL Specification panel appears, enter a fully qualified output data set name. Beware of the following information:
- The output data set is used for saving the JCL and must be cataloged. If you do not enclose the output data set name in quotation marks, it is prefixed by your TSO prefix.
- The job statement must contain a symbolic variable (&#) for the job number. For more information, see Output-data-sets-job-cards-and-symbolic-variables.
- Save the JCL data set or submit the job, as required.
