Generating a BMC AMI Copy backup from SLB job

BMC AMI Recovery Manager provides online support for creating ACPMAIN ARMBGEN batch jobs. 

The ACPMAIN SYSBACKUP YES option specifies whether COPY IMAGECOPY should consider image copies derived from system-level backups (SLBs).

Before you begin

The following authorizations are required:

  • EXECUTE authority for the BMC AMI Recovery Manager Db2 plan
  • TYPE O (Open) access for the target object set or object sets

Db2 must be active when you execute the generated JCL.

Important

The Copy Utility specified in general backup options for the object set must be the BMC AMI Copy utility.

To generate a BMC AMI Copy backup from system level backup job using ARMBGEN (Background option)

  1. In the BMC AMI Recovery for Db2 Main Menu, select 1.Appl object sets and press Enter. The Object Selection panel is displayed.
  2. In the Object Set List panel, type a wildcard pattern or the name of a single object set in the format creator.name and press Enter. The object set or object sets that you specified are displayed.
  3. Select an object set and perform one of the following steps:
    • In the Act column, beside an object set, type and press Enter.
    • In the Act column, beside an object set, type S and press Enter. On the Object List panel, select option 6. Gen backup JCL background and press Enter.
  4. On the Backup JCL Generation panel, for Copy IMAGECOPY from SLB option, select 1. Yes.

  5. When the JCL Specification panel is displayed, enter a fully qualified output data set name. Beware of the following information:
    • The output data set is used for saving the JCL and must be cataloged. If not enclosed in quotation marks, the output data set will be prefixed by your TSO prefix.
    • The job statement must contain a symbolic variable (&#) for the job number. For more information, see Output-data-sets-job-cards-and-symbolic-variables.
  6. Save the JCL data set or submit the job as required.

To generate COPY IMAGECOPY SLB ACPMAIN job (Foreground option)

  1. In the BMC AMI Recovery for Db2 Main Menu, select 1.Appl object sets and press Enter. The Object Selection panel is displayed.
  2. In the Object Set List panel, type a wildcard pattern or the name of a single object set in the format creator.name and press Enter. The object set or object sets that you specified are displayed.
  3. In the Act column, beside an object set, type S and press Enter
  4. On the Object List panel, select option 4. Gen backup JCL foreground and press Enter.
