SNAP
If you do not specify SNAP on the OPTION command, BMC AMI Recover uses the value of the SNAP installation option (SNAP-HW) as the default value. The default value of the SNAP installation option is HW.

SNAP HW | When you specify SNAP HW, BMC AMI Recover calls XBM to restore an Instant Snapshot by using the hardware data set snapshot capability. If the data sets are not snappable, the restore fails unless a DATAMVR is specified. |
SNAP VSAM | When you specify SNAP VSAM, BMC AMI Recover calls DFSMSdss to restore a VSAM data set by using conventional I/O if the source or target is not on a snappable disk. If the data sets are on snappable disks, BMC AMI Recover uses fast replication. If a DATAMVR is specified, BMC AMI Recover uses FAST REPLICATION PREFERRED. If a DATAMVR is not specified, BMC AMI Recover uses FAST REPLICATION REQUIRED. To read a VSAM copy with SNAP VSAM, you specify the name of the VSAM data set in an INCOPY statement, just as you would if it was an Instant Snapshot copy, using the INCOPY FULL SNAPSHOT DSNAME dataSetName syntax. SNAP VSAM also allows you to recover using a VSAM copy registered in BMCXCOPY or SYSCOPY if that copy is not on a snappable disk. |
