Using advisors

Advisors are at the center of BMC AMI Pool Advisor for Db2. 


Foreground monitors

In the foreground, you can display an explanation of the current statistics on the report from any pool advisor report—an explanation that reflects real-time conditions. If a problem exists on any Db2 subsystem being monitored, the product notifes you instantly with recommendations. For more information, see Report-advice.

Background monitors

In the background, they perform the following functions:

  • Constantly monitor your system
  • Calculate the optimum configuration for each resource
  • Recommend changes when necessary to ensure the best possible performance of your applications.

Important

Only the common System Performance and Pool Advisor reports use advisor technology. BMC AMI Ops Monitor for Db2 views do not use advisor technology.
