SHUTDOWN

SHUTDOWN is a Data Collector command that you can issue only from the system operator console.

SHUTDOWN stops a Data Collector subsystem, either in a normal manner or without saving trace data.

Important

The SHUTDOWN IMMEDIATE and STOP commands are mutually exclusive. If you issue both of these commands, only the command issued first is recognized.

Parameter

Description

DCssid

(required) Subsystem ID of the Data Collector to be stopped

IMMEDIATE

(optional) Stops the Data Collector quickly without saving data that was collected but not yet written to the trace data sets. If you submit the SHUTDOWN command without the IMMEDIATE parameter, the Data Collector shuts down in a normal manner.

Important

If you issue a SHUTDOWN IMMEDIATE, the subsequent start of the Data Collector takes longer than usual because the the product must rebuild the index for the trace data sets. Use the IMMEDIATE parameter only under emergency conditions.
