HELP


HELP is a basic panel command that you can issue from any product panel.

HELP displays informational text. The parameter specified, the point when you issue the command, or the position of the cursor determine the text topic displayed.

Syntax of the HELP command

Description

If you don't specify a parameter, the following rules are applied in the following order to determine the Help text displayed:

  • If a message is displayed, the product displays Help for that message.
  • If the cursor is on a report data field,  Help for that field.
  • If a report is displayed, the product displays Help for that report.
  • The product displays Help for the panel displayed

nonspecificObject

(Optional) If you specify an object without an object type, the product searches all types for an object with the specified name. The product displays Help text for the first object that matches. If no matching object is found, the product displays an error message.

commandName

(Optional) Help is available for all System and SQL Performance product commands. Do not abbreviate command names when you use the HELP command. Type HELP COMMANDS for a selection list of all commands.

panelID

(Optional) Help is available for all product panels. Specify the 8-character panel identifier. Type HELP PANELS for a selection list of all panels.

messageID

(Optional) Help is available for all product messages. Specify the message identifier in the format BMC nnnnn. Type HELP TUT(MESSAGES) for a selection list of all messages

Help is also available for all OPERTUNE messages.

OPERTUNE for DB2 is a BMC Software product that you can use to change DSNZPARM values dynamically.

tutorialName

(Optional) Help is available for a number of general topics unassociated with specific objects. Specify the tutorial name. Type HELP TUTORIAL for a selection list of tutorial topics.

reportName

(Optional) Help is available for all product reports. Specify the 8-character report name. Type HELP REPORTS for a selection list of all reports.

Type HELP (with or without a parameter) on the Command line, and press Enter.

 

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
