BEEP

BEEP is a basic panel command that you can issue from any product panel. It is a toggle command that alternately disables and enables the terminal "bell" feature. The beep sounds when the product displays a message and when an exception condition defined in a report is displayed.

When you use this product under TSO/ISPF, the product determines whether the terminal supports beeping and, based on that information, defaults to either using or not using beeps. Under native TSO, the product cannot make this determination and defaults to not using beeps. If your terminal supports beeping, use this command to enable this feature.

Use this command at any time to disable beeping when frequent messages or exceptions make the noise undesirable.

The setting does not remain in effect across user sessions.
