UPDATEDB2STATS

UPDATEDB2STATS tells BMC AMI Load whether to update statistics in the Db2 catalog. Db2 uses these statistics to determine the access paths that the Db2 optimizer selects.

Important

If the UPDATEDB2STATS keyword is not used in the LOAD SYSIN statement, then the +RUNSTATS parameter specification drives the updating of the Db2 catalog

NO

UPDATEDB2STATS NO, which is the default, tells BMC AMI Load not to update statistics in the Db2 catalog.

YES

UPDATEDB2STATS YES tells BMC AMI Load to update statistics in the Db2 catalog according to the values in the STTPARMS DD or the BMC AMI Utilities configuration. The STTPARMS DD is the location in which the parameters for BMC AMI Stats are specified. For more information, see the Overview of BMC AMI Stats.

Restrictions

UPDATEDB2STATS YES is subject to the following restrictions:

  • BMC AMI Load does not gather statistics during LOAD RESUME YES processing.
  • BMC AMI Load computes aggregate statistics using catalog values for partitions that are not processed. To collect statistics for all partitions and ensure that BMC AMI Load computes meaningful values when performing a partial load, run BMC AMI Stats on the entire table space when, or immediately after, the table space has loaded.
  • BMC AMI Load skips non-indexed tables.

Additional considerations

The following additional considerations apply to UPDATEDB2STATS YES:

  • BMC AMI Load updates column statistics for every column of every index.
  • You can also have BMC AMI Load collect frequency distributed statistics can also be collected. The BMC AMI Stats parameters (from the STTPARMS DD) control frequency statistics collection. (If the STTPARMS DD does not supply these parameters for the load job, BMC AMI Load obtains them from the BMC AMI Utilities configuration.)
  • For partitioned table spaces, BMC AMI Load does not update table statistics unless there is an index on the partitioning columns or a DPSI defined.
  • For a list of which Db2 catalog statistics you can update, see the Overview of BMC AMI Stats.
