+DRAIN1
The +DRAIN1 parameter controls how processing issues drains during the following stages:
- Before reorganization. This initial drain establishes a specific point in time.
- After reorganization but before the final drain. This drain captures and applies changes.
Depending on the option you choose, these final drain, or series of drains, will be either:
+DRAIN1(WTR): (SPE2010
) (Default) Writers only
- +DRAIN1(ALL): Readers and writers
If +DRAIN1(ALL) is used, the job output displays DRAIN(RDW) to distinguish it from the final drain, which is always a DRAIN(ALL).
BMC recommends using +DRAIN1(ALL). The advantages of this option are:
- Readers that cannot be drained are discovered prior to the reorganization rather than after completion.
- Draining both readers and writers prevents the deadlock that can occur with +DRAIN1(WTR) and ensures a successful final drain.
The values are defined as follows:
WTR | (SPE2010) (Default) Processing waits on writer claims only. |
---|---|
ALL | Processing waits on all (both reader and writer) claims. |
