Preparing UrbanCode Deploy/HCL Launch artifacts

This topic describes how to create and configure the UrbanCode Deploy/HCL Launch artifacts associated with the component processes provided in the BMC AMI DevOps for Db2 plug-ins:

To define a resource

Use the following procedure to define a resource:

  1. From the UrbanCode Deploy/HCL Launch web console, click Resources tab from the product toolbar.
  2. Click Create Top-Level Group.
    1. Enter a name of the resource.
    2. Click Save.
  3. Add Group by clicking the three dots menu (***) of your resource. Enter a name for a group and click Save.
  4. Add Agent by clicking  the three dots menu (***) of your group. Select the agent from the list and click Save.
  5. Add Component by clicking the three dots menu (***) of your agent. Select the component from the list and click Save.

To define an application

Use the following procedure to define an application:

  1. From the UrbanCode Deploy/HCL Launch web console, click Applications tab from the product toolbar.
  2. Click Create Application.
    1. Enter a name for the application.
    2. Click Save.
  3. From your application's dashboard, click Components.
  4. Click Add Component.
    1. Select a component from the list.
    2. Click Save.
  5. From your application's dashboard, click Processes.
  6. Click Create Process.
    1. Enter a name for the application process.
    2. Click Save.
  7. From the application process editor, click to expand the component process steps drawer.
  8. Drag and drop the required component process step to the application process to configure with the component process.
  9. Select the component process and configure.
  10. Click Save.

    Important

    Configure application process properties 'ama.job.id' in the configuration menu of the process if the component is created using the BMC provided component template.

To link a resource to your application

Use the following procedure to link a resource to your application:

  1. From your application's dashboard, click Environments.
  2. Click Create Environment.
    1. Enter a name for the environment.
    2. Select an environment color from the list.
    3. Click Save. The environment name will appear on the screen.
  3. Click on the created environment name to open the environment resources tab.
  4. Click Add Base Resource.
  5. From the list of resources, expand your resource.
    1. Select the resource group check box that you have created.
    2. Click Save

To configure Environment Properties based on your component

Use the following procedure to configure the Environment Properties based on your component:

  1. From your application's dashboard, click Environments.
  2. Click Configuration tab.
    1. Click Environment Properties.
      1. From the Component Environment Properties list, select your component.
      2. Update component property values based on your environment.
      3. Scroll to the bottom and click Save.

Important

Configure environment properties if your component is created using the BMC provided component template.
