Shutting down BMC AMI Defender

You can make provisions for the orderly shutdown of BMC AMI Defender during a z/OS shutdown or re-IPL.

Terminate BMC AMI Defender with a STOP command before you terminate TCP/IP. However, if you issue the STOP command and TCP/IS has already terminated or become unavailable, BMC AMI Defender terminates without waiting for TCP/IP.

In an emergency, you can cancel BMC AMI Defender without harm to the system, but only before a shutdown or re-IPL. If you re-start BMC AMI Defender after cancelling it and without an intervening IPL, then you might have to use the FORCE parameter. See Restarting-BMC-AMI-Defender-for-z-OS-after-an-unrecoverable-failure.
