Creating and editing object sets


You can create an entirely new object set or create one based on an existing object set.

In BMC AMI Command Center, you must create an object set within an object set view. The object set is saved to the Db2 subsystem's object set database. The object set is then available to other BMC products.

Important

If you cannot see the Product Tools perspective, click Layout layout.png and add the perspective to the layout. For more information, see Managing workspace layouts.

To create an object set

  1. In the Product Tools perspective, click the Add view NW_plus_circle_o.png menu arrow, and then click Add Object Set View.

    Tip

    The default value of the Add view menu is always the last option that you created.

  2. In the Add Object Set View dialog box, select a Db2 Connection from your list of favorite connections.

    Tip

    You can add Db2 connections to your list of favorite connections by clicking NG_plug_connect_square_blue.png and specifying which connections to include.

  3. In the Object set filter field, enter a filter and click OK.
  4. In the results pane, click Add object set NW_plus_circle_o.png.
  5. In the results pane on the Specifications tab, complete the following fields:

     

    Field

    Description

    Object set

    Enter a name for the object set.

    Description

    ( Optional) Enter a description of the object set.

  6. To add specifications to the object set, click Add specification NW_plus_circle_o.png.
  7. In the Add Object Set Specification dialog, enter information for the specifications needed.

    Tip

    At any time, you can click NW_refresh.png to revert to the last saved object set definition.

  8. ( Optional To reorder the display of the object specifications, click the up and down arrows NW_arrow_up_circle.png NW_arrow_down_circle.png.
  9. ( Optional ) To copy an object specification, click Copy Specification NW_files_copy_o.png.
  10. Click Save Object Set NW_floppy.png.The object is saved to the DB2 subsystem's object set database.

To create an object set by using an existing object set

Tip

You can use this procedure to copy and then make changes to an object set that was defined in another product (for example, BMC AMI Recover).

  1. In the Product Tools perspective, click the Add View NW_plus_circle_o.png menu arrow, and click Add Object Set View.

    Tip

    The default value of the Add View menu is always the last option that you created.

  2. In the Add Object Set View dialog box, select a Db2 Connection from your list of favorite connections.

    Tip

    You can add Db2 connections to your list of favorite connections by clicking NG_plug_connect_square_blue.png and specifying which connections to include.

  3. In the Add Object Set View dialog box, enter an Object set filter and click OK.
  4. In the results pane, navigate to and select an existing object set.
  5. In the results pane, click Copy object set NW_files_copy_o.png.
  6. In the results pane, update the following fields:

    Field

    Description

    Object set

    Update the name of the object set.

    Description

    (Optional) Enter a description of the object set.

  7. To add specifications to the object set, click Add specification NW_plus_circle_o.png.
  8. In the Add Object Set Specification dialog box, enter information for the specifications needed. For more information, see the following topics:

  6. To add specifications to the object set, click Add specification NW_plus_circle_o.png.
  7. In the Add Object Set Specification dialog box, enter information for the specifications needed. For more information, see the following topics:
