Performance perspective


The commands in the Performance perspective enable you to analyze SQL statements, perform What-If comparisons, and migrate access path statistics for an object.

The Performance perspective provides access to the result view tabs, which enable you to perform the tuning process. Depending on the activities being performed, the following tabs can be displayed:

Tuning session pane

Buttons for adding SQL statement views NW_plus_circle_o.png and removing NW_minus_circle_o.png views

Active workspace name

An asterisk (*) indicates that the workspace has unsaved changes.

Perspective tabs

The Performance tab is underlined with orange, indicating that it is the active tab.

Generate Explain plan button NW_generate_explain.png

The button is dimmed after the statement is successfully explained.

What-If button NW_create_what_if.png

The What-If button is dimmed on a selected statement if the statement has not been successfully explained. Unless the statement is successfully explained, you cannot create a What-If scenario based on that statement.

Compare button NW_compare_statement.png

This button opens the Compare dialog box.

Run button NW_run.png

This button executes the statement on the SQL tab and displays the output on the Results tab.

This button opens the Migrate statistics dialog box.

This button exports the current Explain plan to a PDF file.

Show graph view button NW_show_graph_view.png or Show tree view button NW_show_tree_view.png

These buttons switch the display between graph view and tree view.

Full screen button NW_full_screen.png or Close button NW_exit_full_screen.png

These buttons switch the display between full screen view and standard screen view.
