Managing SQL Assurance VTI rules

You can set exceptions to the SQL Assurance expert rules by using Violations to Ignore (VTI) rules. For example, an exception might specify that the expert rule be skipped for a specific package. Use the following procedures to perform tasks on the Violations to Ignore rules:

To add a Manage Violations to Ignore rules view

In the Product Tools perspective, select or add a SQL Assurance view.
In the SQL Assurance detail view, click Manage Violations to Ignore Rules.
The Manage Violations to Ignore Rules view is displayed.
(Optional) To filter the VTI rules displayed, click Add filter.

Click Save Workspace to save the changes to the workspace.

To add a VTI rule

In the Product Tools perspective, select or add a Manage Violations to Ignore Rules view.
Click Add rule .

In the Add Violations to Ignore Rule dialog box, complete the following fields:

Field	Description
Rule name	Enter a pattern for the Rule message number.
Collection	Enter a pattern for the Db2 Collection ID for which you want to create a rule. You can use the % wildcard. A blank field is interpreted as containing a single % wildcard.
Package	Enter a pattern for the Db2 package name for which you want to create a rule. You can use the % wildcard. A blank field is interpreted as containing a single % wildcard.
Version	Enter a pattern for the Db2 package version for which you want to create a rule. You can use the % wildcard. A blank field is interpreted as containing a single % wildcard.
Comment	Enter a comment that describes the rule.

Click OK.
is displayed next to each added rule.
Click Save changes to save all the changes to the Manage Violations to Ignore Rules view.

To edit a VTI rule

In the Product Tools perspective, select a Manage Violations to Ignore Rules view.
In the Violations to Ignore Rules grid, select a rule that you want to edit and click Edit rule .
The Edit Violation Ignore Rule dialog box is displayed
In the Edit Violations to Ignore Rule dialog box, edit the values.
(Optional) Edit additional Violations to Ignore Rules using the Previous rule and Next rule arrows to navigate to another rule.
When you have completed your edits, click OK.
is displayed next to each edited rule.
Verify the edited rules, you can reset the changes, by clicking Reset rules .
Click Save changes to save all the changes to the Manage Violations to Ignore Rules view.

To delete VTI rules

In the Product Tools perspective, select a Manage Violations to Ignore Rules view.
In the Violations to Ignore Rules grid, select one or more rules for deletion.
Click Delete rule .
is displayed next to each rule that you selected to delete.
Verify the rules that you selected to delete. You can undo the deletions by selecting one or more rules marked for deletion and clicking Reset rules .
Click Save changes to save the changes to the Manage Violations to Ignore Rules view.

To copy a VTI rule

In the Product Tools perspective, select a Manage Violations to Ignore Rules view.
In the Violations to Ignore Rules grid, select a rule to copy.
Click Copy rule .

In the Copy Violations to Ignore Rule dialog box, edit the contents of the following fields as needed:

Field	Description
Rule name	Enter a pattern for the rule message number.
Type	Select the type of SQL statement to which the rule applies from the following values: All types Static SQL Dynamic SQL
Collection	Enter a pattern for the Db2 Collection ID for which you want to create a rule. You can use the % wildcard. A blank field is interpreted as containing a single % wildcard.
Package	Enter a pattern for the Db2 package name for which you want to create a rule. You can use the % wildcard. A blank field is interpreted as containing a single % wildcard.
Version	Enter a pattern for the Db2 package version for which you want to create a rule. You can use the % wildcard. A blank field is interpreted as containing a single % wildcard.
SQL	The SQL options are shown only for rules defined to use the SQL statement as criteria. Select the appropriate option button from the following options: Use the SQL statement as criteria Allow any statement To view the full statement, click View SQL .
Comment	Enter a comment that describes the rule.

Click OK .
is displayed next to each added rule.
Click Save changes to save all the changes to the Manage Ignore Rules view.

To filter the VTI rules

In the Manage Violations to Ignore rules view, click Add filter.
(Optional) Enter a View label to describe the filter.
Click Insert a row .

In the Add Expression dialog box, complete the following fields:

Field	Action
Column	Select a column name from the displayed list.
Operator	Select an operator from the displayed list. Important The LIKE operator accepts only Db2 wildcards (% and _).
Value	Enter a value. The value is case sensitive and is automatically enclosed in the delimiter that you selected. Important BMC AMI Command Center requires a nonblank value but does not validate this value.
Logic	Select AND or OR.

Click Save.
Repeat steps 2 through 4 to continue adding rows until you have built the search clause for the filter.

(Optional) To make any changes, edit the search criteria.Use the following buttons to add, edit, remove, or move rows:

Button	Description
	Adds a row to the Search Clause criteria grid In the grid, selecting a row and clicking adds a row above the one that you selected.
	Lets you edit a row in the Search Clause criteria grid
	Removes the selected row from the grid
	Moves the selected row up
	Moves the selected row down

You can also edit the search clause directly by typing in the search-clause text area.

Important

Changes that you type into the text area are not synchronized with the search criteria in the grid. The grid is disabled.

You can use the following buttons:

Button	Description
Column	Click in the clause and, from the menu, select a column name to add to the search clause.
Operator	Click and, from the menu, select an operator to add to the search clause.
	Click to discard any changes that you made in the text area and to synchronize the search clause with the search criteria in the grid. (Clicking this button again would restore your unsaved changes and disable the grid.) Important This button is available only after you begin making changes in the text area. Making any change in the search criteria grid disables this button.

When you finish building the search clause, click OK.

To show properties for a VTI rule

In the Product Tools perspective, select a Manage Violation to Ignore Rules view.
In the Violations to Ignore Rules grid, select a rule.
Perform one of the following actions:
- Click Show properties .
- Double-click the selected row
- Right-click the selected row and select Show properties from the context menu.
To view the SQL statement, click SQL.
Click Close.
