Using application groups and profiles

Perform procedures in this topic to select, create, or update application groups and profiles.

(BMC.DB2.SPE2310) An application profile consists of one or more application groups. An application group is a logical collection of plans, programs, users, correlation IDs, collection IDs, Db2s (objects)—or any combination of these elements—that represent the workload associated with a particular business function or individual. After you define application groups and profiles for your site, you can monitor the SQL workload by application.

To select an application profile

  1. On the SQL Workload Analysis Menu, select Application profile and press Enter. The Application Profile Selection panel is displayed. This panel lists available application profiles. Only profiles you have created or profiles granted public access appear.

In the Modified Define Application Groups panel, a new application group called HELP_DESK is added to the application profile called COMPANY. You can define as many objects as you want to the same group name, and you can add as many groups as you want to the profile.

You cannot specify an object in more than one group. However, you can use the * (asterisk) wildcard in your specifications, which might result in an object matching specifications in more than one group. For more information about the wildcard rules and the rules of precedence for this panel, see online Help (press F1 or type HELP ASQEPRG0).

When you define this new application group, HELP_DESK appears among the application groups in the COMPANY application profile (displayed in the following figure).
