Data Collector component

At the heart of

Apptune

’s data collection capabilities is the component called the Data Collector.

The Data Collector eliminates the need for expensive SQL traces by retrieving data directly from Db2 control blocks and trace data sets. This collection method creates records of summarized accounting statistics, object access statistics, SQL text, and SQL error data, and writes the records to trace data sets.

Data Collectors are defined in the DOMPLEX option set. You can define any number of Data Collectors on each z/OS system. Each Data Collector can monitor up to 128 Db2 subsystems and can support up to 999 concurrent users. Data Collectors can issue commands on behalf of Apptune users to Db2, z/OS, and OPERTUNE for DB2.
