BMC AMI Application Restart Control abend codes

BMC AMI Application Restart Control (AR/CTL) products and their common routines produce abend codes when errors occur during the execution of an application program or a job step. This section lists and explains these abend codes in numerical sequence.

Important

Some of these abend codes can be displayed in one of two ranges, based on the value specified for the Use Abend Code Series (ABN) option. The new range of codes (U1557 to U1577) was developed to resolve a conflict between codes issued by the BATCH CONTROL FACILITY (BCF) component of AR/CTL and codes issued by IMS. The Use Abend Code Series option also enables the AR/CTL BCF component to continue displaying the codes that are affected by this conflict in the old range of values (U061 to U714).

Number

Description

SB22

Explanation: The AR/CTL BCF component Cancel Intercept feature was scheduled and was not able to complete processing successfully. This abend was issued to simulate the original CANCEL request. Processing terminates abnormally.

User response: Refer to message BMC48070I to determine why Cancel Intercept processing was not successful.

The abend code displayed depends on the value specified for the Use Abend Code Series (ABN) option. For more information, see the Use Abend Code Series option in Batch Control Facility. The initialization routine could not locate the directory module (BECDIR) containing the execution defaults. Control could not be returned to the IMS Physical Logger because module DFSXLGI0 could not be located.

User response: Restart the job step, making certain that the modules necessary for execution are available.

U627 or U1573

This information is necessary to provide job step restart. The abend code displayed depends on the value specified for the Use Abend Code Series option. For more information, see the Use Abend Code Series (ABN) option in Batch Control Facility. Instead of risking a restart error, the job step terminates abnormally.

User response: Correct the errors with the REGISET. If you are unable to do so, ensure that a SYSUDUMP and the job log listings are available and contact BMC Customer Support.

U628 or U1574

Processing terminates.

User response: Refer to message BMC74421E for diagnostic information. If you are unable to resolve the problem, contact BMC Customer Support.

U747

Explanation: The AR/CTL BCF component Backout Assist feature encountered an error that can make the results of the IMS Batch Backout utility execution unpredictable. The abend is issued to prevent database damage. The job step or the batch backout operation terminates abnormally.

User response: If the reason for the abend cannot be determined and corrected, execute the IMS Batch Backout utility without the Backout Assist feature active. The Backout Assist feature can be deactivated by including a DD statement (BCFBAIGN, DD DUMMY) in the JCL for the step.

U778

Explanation: AR/CTL detected that the application program issued a ROLL call. AR/CTL issues message BMC74297I and terminates abnormally.

User response: Contact the application programmer to determine why the application issued the ROLL call and determine the action to take.

U1550

Explanation: During AR/CTL BCF component restart processing, the previous job step abended, and the job step member was marked active. This user abend occurs when the last AR/CTL BCF component task that was active fails to complete its processing. Completion of job step processing is indicated by an “ENDED” or “ENDED+ABENDED” status message displayed beside the execution control record. Processing terminates.

User response: Use the Display Active Job Step Member panel to mark the execution control record as abnormally terminated. As a result of this user abend, any steps coded as COND=ONLY for batch backout are bypassed if the AR/CTL BCF component is active for the job step.
