Downloading the PSI
You can download the PSIs using one of the following options:
- From z/OSMF System
- From Local Workstation
- From Download Server
Before you begin
Make sure you have completed the steps in Ordering.
To download the PSI
After you receive the email stating that your product order is complete, follow these steps:
- Access the Order Dashboard by performing one of the following steps:
- Click the order information link in the email.
Click thehttps://webepd.bmc.com/zso/link.
- In the Processed section, corresponding to your order, click the link in the Current Status column and review the order information.
- If the current status is COMPLETED, perform one of the following steps:
Download type Action From z/OSMF System Use this option if your PSI files are already on z/OS.

From Local Workstation - On EPD, open Order Dashboard > Processed and click the COMPLETED link. It opens the Order Details window containing the login details to download your PSI, Server XML, and order details.
- Use the credentials in the order details to log in to the EPD download server.
The list of files and folders required for the requested product is displayed. - Select the download folder and click Download.
The PSI is downloaded to the zip folder. Unzip the folder. - Log in to z/OSMF, click Software Management > Portable Software Instances.
- Click Actions > Add > From Local Workstation.
The Add Portable Software Instance From Local Workstation page is displayed. - On the Add Portable Software Instance From Local Workstation page, click Browse on the Local files selected field.
Browse to the previously verified and unzipped folder containing PSI. Select all of the files except the Server XML. After you have selected the files to be uploaded, the File Location field is enabled. - In the File Location field, specify the name of a UNIX directory that contains the PSI files and click Upload.
- Complete the following fields and click OK:

Name
Specify the name of the new PSI that you are adding. You can modify the existing name or enter a new name.
Description
Specify the description for the new PSI that you are adding. You can modify the existing description or enter a new description. This field is optional.
Categories
Select one or more categories to assign to the PSI.
The PSI is listed in the Portable Software Instances table.
(Recommended) From Download Server You can download the PSI directly to your z/OSMF system during deployment. - On EPD, open Order Dashboard > Processed and click the COMPLETED link. It opens the Order Details window containing the login details to download your PSI, the Server XML, and the order details.
- Copy the Server XML.
- Log in to z/OSMF, click Software Management > Portable Software Instances.
- Click Actions > Add > From Download Server.
The Add Portable Software Instance From Download Server page is displayed. - On the Add Portable Software Instance From Download Server (Step 1 of 4) page, complete the following fields and click Next.

Description
Name
Enter a name for the new PSI that you want to add.
Categories
(Optional) Select one or more categories to assign to the PSI. BMC recommends creating a new category to group the PSIs for your installation. This helps in finding the related PSIs.
Server XML
(Recommended) Copy and paste the content from the Server XML provided by BMC. The Server XML contains information about the download server and the location of the PSI files on that server.
System
Select the name of the system on which you want to download the PSI file.
UNIX directory
Enter the name of the UNIX directory where you want to download the PSI.
HOLDDATA Review the HOLDDATA items and complete the related tasks (if any).
For example, applying maintenance or performing a Db2 rebind to ensure compatibility. - On the Add Portable Software Instance From Download Server (Step 2 of 4) page, complete the following fields and click Next.

Client XML
(Required) Update the downloadmethod parameter value to https.
JCL data set name
Enter the name of the partitioned data set where z/OSMF stores the jobs.
JOB statement
Enter the JOB statement to be used for the download job.
- On the Add Portable Software Instance From Download Server (Step 3 of 4) page, review and submit the jobs in sequential order. To submit a job, select the job, and click Actions > Submit Job. After all the jobs are completed, click Next.
- On the Add Portable Software Instance From a Download Server (Step 4 of 4) page, review the displayed field description and complete the download by clicking Finish.
If the order is not completed, the order status is CONTACT SUPPORT. For assistance with your order, create a new support case.
While creating the case, specify the following information:
- Product: Common Install – z/OS
- Product Component: z/OSMF
Also, include the Order ID in the Subject or Description field.
