Launching and exiting a console

The console uses z/OS authentication. When you launch the console, you must provide a valid SAF user ID and password. The security administrator for your site manages the SAF account information for users.

To launch the console

  1. From the Start menu, select All Programs > BMC Software > consoleProduct.

  2. If the host selection dialog box is displayed, select your UIM host name from the Host list.

    Tip

    You can manage the host list by clicking Manage Client Installs. For more information, see Connecting-to-a-host-and-managing-host-connections.

  3. In the login dialog box, enter the user ID and password for the selected host (z/OS) system.

  4. If you are using a security package such as RACF, CA ACF2, or CA Top Secret, enter your group ID and account number.

  5. Click Login.

To exit the console

  1. Click userID > Logout.

  2. In the Quit? dialog box, click Yes.
