Authorizing the RTCS libraries

 APF-authorizes the RTCS subsystem program library and the RTCS product program library, temporarily or permanently.

Note

If you are sharing data sets, complete this task only once per sysplex . Otherwise, this task must be completed for each target z/OS image.


To temporarily APF-authorize the RTCS libraries

Issue one of the following commands to add each library to the APF list:

  •  (recommended) If the library is not SMS-managed

    SETPROG APF,ADD,LIBRARY=SYS2.RTCS.libraryName,VOLUME=zzzzzz

    Where the libraryName must be 

    • POSZRTCS for the RTCS subsystem program library
    • POSZLINK for the RTCS product program library

    The value zzzzzz is the VOLSER for the library.  

    This command allocates the production libraries with the DSNAMEs that are indicated in the sample JCL in Creating-POSZRTCS and Creating-POSZLINK. If you have used different DSNAMEs, change the names in the commands accordingly.

  • If the library is SMS-managed

    SETPROG APF,ADD,LIBRARY=SYS2.RTCS.libraryName,SMS

To permanently APF-authorize the RTCS libraries

  1. Add the library’s DSNAME to the PROGxx member of SYS1.PARMLIB or the z/OS image-specific Logical PARMLIB data set that is appropriate for your site.

  2. IPL the z/OS image or issue the SET PROG=xx z/OS operator command, which causes z/OS to rebuild the list of APF-authorized data sets in storage.
