Performing stand-alone restore (bare-metal recovery)
To perform a stand-alone restore of BMC AMI Cloud full volume dumps, you can IPL a recovery program over the network by using a standard feature of the system zHMC and restore volumes located in the network-attached storage or detachable media.
Before you begin
Make sure you have completed the following tasks to be able to perform a stand-alone restore:

To perform a stand-alone restore from an FTP source
You can perform a stand-alone restore from an FTP source by using a server with an FTP service that can be reached from the Hardware Management Console (HMC).
Perform the following steps:
- Copy the three DFDSS files and the stand-alone copy to an accessible directory on that server.
- If you are using the BMC AMI Cloud management server, verify that you have an FTP service installed.
From your HMC, select Recovery > Load from Removable Media or Server:
Choose the media that holds the stand alone copy.
IPL the system.
