Performing stand-alone restore (bare-metal recovery)

You can use the stand-alone restore process to recover a one-pack system (light-weight IPLable z/OS system on one volume) that has a BMC AMI Cloud agent installed. Once the one-pack system is up and running, you can easily start the agent and restore the rest of the data by using the BMC AMI Cloud web UI or CLI commands.

To perform a stand-alone restore from an FTP source

You can perform a stand-alone restore from an FTP source by using a server with an FTP service that can be reached from the Hardware Management Console (HMC).

Perform the following steps:

  1. Copy the three DFDSS files and the stand-alone copy to an accessible directory on that server.
  2. If you are using the BMC AMI Cloud management server, verify that you have an FTP service installed.
  3. From your HMC, select Recovery > Load from Removable Media or Server
