Making changes to the IODF after installing and activating CDS

Warning

If you are making a change to the IODF after installing and activating CDS, you must perform the following steps to ensure proper display of CDS devices. If you fail to do so, when you issue the DISPLAY SMS,LIB(<libName>),DETAIL command, the tape library status view displays 0 devices in the TOT DRV, ONL DRV, and AVL DRV fields and error message IGD330I is returned.

Perform the following steps:

  1. Issue the following VARY command to set the manual tape library status to OFFLINE:

    V SMS,LIB(<libName>),OFFLINE

    The following messages are displayed:

    M9MAURI 00000290 V SMS,LIB(<libName>),OFFLINE
    INTERNAL 00000290 F OAM,V,<libName>,OFFLINE
    STC12584 00000090 CBR1000I OAM V command execution scheduled.
    00000090 IEF234E D 1100,
    00000090 IEF880I 1100 NOW OFFLINE BY OAM
    00000090 IEF234E D 1100,
    00000090 IEF880I 1100 NOW OFFLINE BY OAM

    The offline request for the library sets the status of the devices to OFFLINE. Running jobs that are using devices remain in a PENDING OFFLINE status. 

  2. Activate the IODF.

  3. Set the status of the manual tape libraries back to ONLINE by using the VARY command:

    V SMS,LIB(<libName>),ONLINE

    The following messages are displayed:

    M9MAURI 00000290 V SMS,LIB(<libName>),ONLINE
    INTERNAL 00000290 F OAM,V,<libName>,ONLINE
    STC12584 00000090 CBR1000I OAM V command execution scheduled.
