Converting the CDS files format

This topic describes how to convert Cloud Data Sets (CDSs):

Before you begin

See Performing the Cloud Data Sets upgrade.

Task 1: To stop BMC AMI Cloud components

The cds-links-migration process converts the existing CDSs to version 4.0.01 CDSs.

Warning

Before you migrate the CDS data sets, you must upgrade all the components to version 4.0.01, including the server, all agents, and all CDSs.

Stop the following BMC AMI Cloud components:

  • The BMC AMI Cloud server
  • All agents in the SYSPLEX
  • All CDSs in the SYSPLEX:

    1. Vary the devices and MTL offline.

      /V uuuu-uuuu,OFFLINE
    2. Stop the M9CDSWK STC by using the following command:

      P M9CDSWK

Task 2: To convert the CDS files format

  1. Make sure that the migrations.cds-links-migration-v400-enabled parameter in the agent.yml file is set to true.
  2. Submit the M9CDSMIG job. You can find the sample JCL M9CDSMIG in the SAMPLIB PDS deployed during the BMC AMI Cloud agent installation or upgrade.

    Important

The PWD parameter must point to the agent's directory.

    For more information, see cds-links-migration-parameters-and-examples.

  3. Change the migrations.cds-links-migration-v400-enabled parameter to false in all the agent.yml and M9CDSWK.properties files in the SYSPLEX.

Task 3: To start BMC AMI Cloud components

Start the following BMC AMI Cloud components:

  • The BMC AMI Cloud server
  • All agents in the sysplex Start the agent from any console by issuing the following command:

    S M9AGENT
  • Start all the CDSs in the sysplex:

    1. Start the M9CDSWK STC by using the following command:

      S M9CDSWK
    2. Vary the devices and MTL online.

Important

After migration is complete and the server is running, you must wait for a successful sync with storage before you perform any GUI resource actions.
