Life cycle management considerations
- Before running for the first time:
- Associate the same user id to the BMC AMI Cloud z/OS agent and the life cycle management process. Running life cycle management requires the user ID to have READ access to the appropriate RACF resources:
- M9.LIFECYCLE.CLOUD.DELETEEXPIRED
- M9.LIFECYCLE.CLOUD.STORAGEOPTIMIZER
- You can associate a life cycle management process with one resource complex only. Define a separate life cycle management process for each resource complex.
- You can run only one life cycle management process simultaneously for the same resource process.
- By default, all LPARS in a SYSPLEX are associated with the same resource complex, named group-sysplex-name. Running life cycle management in any LPAR deletes the expired resources in the whole sysplex.
- Associate the same user id to the BMC AMI Cloud z/OS agent and the life cycle management process. Running life cycle management requires the user ID to have READ access to the appropriate RACF resources:
- Running regularly:
- You can activate the life cycle management process in simulate mode, meaning it reports the data sets that would have been deleted without actually deleting them.
- The next time the life cycle management process runs, it will pick up where the previous process ended.
- We recommend that you run a life cycle management process every day.
