Updating the product license


Usually, the product license is granted for a full year, and is renewed until the end of the contract or a mainframe upgrade. Upgrading to a newer BMC AMI Cloud release does not require a new license. Changing the CPU serial number or model of the mainframe server does require a new license.

The license should be updated in the license file of each active z/OS agent and the management server. For more information about updating the license file, see the following topics:

Usually, the output of the z/OS command D M=CPU is required for obtaining a new license. Requests for a new license are available through the BMC AMI Cloud support portal, or your BMC sales representative.

License Enforcement

The license is enforced by every action that is performed under the z/OS agent, the z/OS CLI and the management server web UI. When the license expires, only data retrieval actions are allowed. The following table lists the return code and messages for every action in accordance with the license status:
