Creating cases to perform operations on Workday person data


This use case describes how an organization can manage data in Workday and manage Workday service requests from BMC Helix Business Workflows. By using the BMC Helix iPaaS BMC Helix Business Workflows connector, organizations can integrate BMC Helix Business Workflows with other products such as:

  • JIRA to create Jira issues from BMC Helix Business Workflows case
  • ServiceNow to create incidents from BMC Helix Business Workflows cases or the converse
  • Slack to post critical details from a BMC Helix Business Workflows case to a Slack channel
  • DocuSign to complete a BMC Helix Business Workflows case for onboarding an employee

Scenario

Updating an employee address in Workday from a case

Apex Global maintains employee personnel data in Workday. After they integrate BMC Helix Business Workflows with Workday by using Jitterbit, case agents can access person data and manage Workday service requests from BMC Helix Business Workflows. When information in Workday requires updates, agents can create and manage cases to update the user information in Workday.

For example, as a case agent you want to update the current address of an employee. You create a case by using the Update Address template created in BMC Helix Business Workflows. While creating the case, you update the address details of the employee and create the case. When you move the status of the case to In Progress, the new address is updated in the Workday record of the employee.
