Setting up Proactive Service Resolution to enable automatic creation of a blackout policy for CIs associated with a change


In BMC Helix Integration Service, you configure Proactive Service Resolution (PSR) to automate the creation of CI blackout policies for CIs related to ITSM change requests.

In BMC Helix Integration Studio, after you configure a site and the out-of-the-box connectors, use the out-of-the-box ITSM for PSR to Helix Ops Mgmt for Blackout flow template to enable the integration. The ITSM for PSR to Helix Ops Mgmt for Blackout flow is automatically triggered to perform actions across applications to create and delete BMC Helix Operations Management blackout policy for CIs associated with a change request in BMC Helix IT Service Management (ITSM). 

Creation of the blackout policy is triggered when the change request moves to the Scheduled state. The blackout policy created includes all the CIs that are associated with the ITSM change request. During the scheduled blackout period, BMC Helix Operations Management does not send notifications for events generated for the associated CIs.

After the blackout period is over, the blackout policy is automatically deleted.

Important

  • If you have enabled the PSR integration for creating incidents, during the blackout period, no incidents are created for events generated for the CIs included in the policy.

  • To connect to BMC Helix Operations Management, configure the ITSM For PSR to Helix Ops Mgmt for Blackout connector.
  • To connect to BMC Helix ITSM, configure the ITSM for PSR connector.

You must add connection configurations for BMC Helix Operations Management and BMC Helix ITSM.

To set up PSR for automatic creation of a blackout policy for CIs associated with an ITSM change request. configure the ITSM For PSR to Helix Ops Mgmt for Blackout catalog flow.
