BMC Remedy AR System authentication process


You can configure the Remedy Single Sign-On (Remedy SSO) server to authenticate users through Remedy AR System. The following image shows the tasks that you need to perform to configure the Remedy AR System authentication in Remedy SSO.

Configuring the Remedy AR System authentication

After configuring a realm, the next step is to configure an authentication for the realm. This topic provides information about configuring the Remedy AR System for authentication for a realm.

Before you begin

  • Ensure that you performed the Remedy SSO server configuration. For more information on server configuration, see Configuring-the-Remedy-SSO-server.
  • Configure a realm for the authentication. For more information on realm configuration, see Configuring Realms.
  • Obtain the following information from the Remedy AR System admin:
    • Host name of the server where Remedy AR System is installed.
    • Port number of Remedy AR System.

To configure the Remedy AR System authentication

  1. In the left navigation panel of the Add Realm or Edit Realm page, click Authentication.
  2. In the Authentication Type field, click AR.
  3. Enter the BMC Remedy AR System details:

    Field

    Description

    Host

    Host name of the Remedy AR System server.

    Port

    Port number for Remedy AR System.

  4. (Optional) Click Test to verify the settings.
  5. (Optional) Click Enable Chaining Mode and perform the following steps to enable authentication chaining. For more information about the authentications that you can chain with Remedy AR System, see Authentication-chaining.
    1. Click Add Authentication.
    2. Select the authentication type and enter the authentication details.
    3. To add more authentications for the realm, repeat Step a through Step b.
  6. (Optional) Select Include tenant on user name for authentication.
  7. (Optional) Select Allow users to change passwords, if you want to enable users to change their AR System access passwords directly from the Remedy SSO end-user login page.

  8. Click Save.
