Adding the consumer key to access the BMC Helix Single Sign-on server


You need to define a consumer key for BMC Helix Single Sign-On agent to successfully and securely communicate with the BMC Helix Single Sign-On server. The SaaS administrator provides the consumer key that can be used for secure communication between the BMC Helix Single Sign-On agent and server. 

Before you begin

Make sure the BMC Helix Single Sign-On administrator has provided the consumer key for your system to access the BMC Helix Single Sign-On server configuration.

To add the consumer key details for a BMC Helix Single Sign-On agent

To add the consumer key details for a BMC Helix Single Sign-on agent

  1. On the BMC Helix Single Sign-On agent system, open the System Properties settings  and select the Advanced tab.
  2. Click Environment Variables....
  3. Under System Variables, click New.
  4. In the Environment Variables dialog, add the following values: 

    Variable name

    Enter RSSO_CONSUMER_API_KEY.

    Variable value

    Enter the consumer key provided by your Administrator.

  5. Click OK.
  6. Restart the Tomcat server of the BMC Helix Single Sign-On agent. 

For all communications from the BMC Helix Single Sign-On agent, the BMC Helix Single Sign-On verifies that the consumer key defined in the system is available in the list of consumer keys defined on the BMC Helix Single Sign-On server, and grants access for the agent to fetch the BMC Helix Single Sign-On server configuration.
