Authenticating to the correct realm automatically

When the BMC application user logs on to a BMC application URL such as https://company.bmc.com/arsys or https://xyz.onbmc.com/arsys, for the first time, the login page prompts the user to enter a domain name based on which you are prompted to enter your log on credentials for your realm. The user can either enter the domain name as domainname.com or enter the complete email format name such as user@domainname.com for authenticating to the correct realm automatically.

Note

The users have to enter the domain name when they log on to the application only for the first time. The browser will save the domain name for subsequent logon requests.

After the users have entered a valid domain name, the browser is redirected to the BMC Atrium Single Sign-On server log on page where they have to enter valid credentials for their realm. After successful authentication, they can access the relevant application. Additionally, the domain used for authentication is verified with the domain specified in the your username. For example, the web agent verifies the request with username user@domainname.com against the correct realm. If the credentials pass this validation, this domain is used for authentication during subsequent next log on requests.

The following image displays the domain name field.

Note

To avoid using the domain name using UI, you can enter the domain name in the URL directly as shown in the following example, https://company.bmc.com/arsys?domain=domainname.com. You will be redirected to the correct realm logon page.
