Installing TrueSight Smart Reporting with SQL Server


Where you are in the Installation process:

To install TrueSight Smart Reporting with SQL Server

Do the following:

  1. Log in to the host computer where you want to install TrueSight Smart Reporting.
  2. On the host computer, ensure that you have Administrator privileges.
  3. Download the TrueSight Smart Reporting files on the host computer.
  4. Ensure that one of the following JDK versions exists on the host computer, and the JAVA_HOME environment variable is set:
    • Oracle JDK version 1.8.0_181 or later
      Required Oracle JDK build number 181 and laterEnsure that JDK version 1.8.0_181 or later is installed on the computer where you install TrueSight Smart Reporting. Any version lower than 1.8.0_181 is not supported.
    • Open JDK version 11
    If the JAVA_HOME variable is not set, do the following:
    Failed to execute the [excerpt-include] macro.
  5. Run one of the folllowing commands:
    • (Windows)"java -jar TrueSight-SmartReporting-19.01.jar"
    • (Linux)"java -jar TrueSight-SmartReporting-19.01.jar -gui”
  6. In the Language Selection box, select a language for installation, and click Next.
  7. Read the information on the next page, and click Next.
  8. On the licence agreement page, select I accept the terms of this licence agreement. and click Next.
  9. On the General Options page, do the following:
    1. Enter the web server port number. The default number is 8443.
    2. If you want to install TrueSight Smart Reporting as a Windows service, select the Install Windows service check box.
    3. Click Next.
  10. On the Truesight Smart Reporting Database Details page, select Microsoft SQL Server as the database type, and click Next.
  11. Do the following:

    1. In the Database Server Location area:
      • Type the server host and server port.
      • Select the Create new database check box.
    2. In the Database User area, select the Create new user check box.
    3. Enter your password and repeat it in the Confirm Password field.
    4. In the Administrator User area, enter the user name and password of a user who has administrator-level access to the database.

    Password compatibility

    While creating a user, make sure that you add a password that is compatible with the SQL Server.

  12. Click Next. On the Validate Connection details window, click Yes.
  13. You can see the success message. Click OK.
  14. Browse to the path for installation, and click Next.
    If you are installing in a custom directory, manually add the name of the directory to the installation path. For example, if you want to install in the C:\Program Files\TrueSight Smart Reporting directory, browse to C:\Program Files, and add TrueSight Smart Reporting manually to the installation path. 
  15. On the confirmation message, click OK.
  16. On the next window, you can view the TrueSight Smart Reporting installation details. Click Done to complete the installation process.
  17. Start TrueSight Smart Reporting. Do the following:
    • (Windows) Start the TrueSightSmartReporting service and change its startup type to Automatic.
      NoteIn non-English locales, the TrueSightSmartReporting service appears as the Yellowfin service.
    • (Linux) Navigate to the <install_dir>/appserver/bin/ folder and run the following command:
      ./startup.sh

Now that you have successfully installed Smart Reporting, complete one or all the following post-installation tasks according to your requirement:
