Installing all BMC Reporting Foundation components on one computer

Use the following procedure to install all the BMC Reporting Foundation components on one computer.

Before you begin

  • Ensure that you have the BMC Reporting Foundation - Windows Full Install DVD.
Warning

Note

Wherever this book refers to a DVD, you can also use files that you downloaded from the BMC Software Electronic Product Download (EPD) site.

  • Ensure that the target computer meets the System requirements.
  • The account that will run BMC Reporting Foundation as a service must already exist and must be a member of the Administrators group.
  • You must be logged on as a member of the account that will run BMC Reporting Foundation as a service.
  • You cannot install BMC Reporting Foundation on a domain controller or on a computer where the Windows default security settings for the local Administrators group have been modified.
  • If you prefer to use Apache, there is no prerequisite action because Apache is installed at the same time as BMC Reporting Foundation. See About web servers for more information.
  • Do not specify a path that contains spaces, parentheses, dollar ($ ) symbols and percent (% ) symbols.
  • You must be logged on with an account that has rights to modify the %temp% directory.
  • If your BMC reporting solution contains the Oracle database, ensure that you have installed the 32-bit Oracle client as well as 64-bit Oracle client.
BMC Reporting Foundation Server requires 64-bit oracle client and Reporting Foundation Client requires the 32-bit Oracle client. Hence, both 32-bit and 64-bit oracle client must be installed if you are planning to install all Reporting components of BMC Reporting foundation on one Windows computer.
