Configuring settings to cross-launch reports

You can use the cross-launch functionality for navigating from one application to another, and navigating back to the source application. You can cross-launch from Smart Reporting to the following:

  • Mid Tier
  • BMC Helix ITSM: Smart IT(Smart IT)
  • BMC Helix Virtual Agent
  • BMC Helix Business Workflows

With cross-launch functionality, when you click a ticket number hyperlink in a report in Smart Reporting, the ticket opens in other BMC applications. For example:

  • If you navigate from Smart Reporting to BMC Helix ITSM: Smart IT, the ticket opens in Smart IT.
  • If you navigate from Smart Reporting to Mid Tier, the ticket opens in Mid Tier.

By default, the AR System custom parameter is available when you onboard Smart Reporting. You must update the settings for Mid Tier, BMC Helix Business Workflows, and Smart IT.

Manually updating the hyperlink objects to cross-launch Smart IT

You can customize the default cross-launch behavior to launch Smart IT. To cross-launch to Smart IT, you must update the custom parameter, and perform additional manual steps to update the hyperlink objects. The method in the following procedure describes the steps by using Incident Management as an example. By following a similar procedure, you can cross-launch to other applications such as Change Management, Knowledge Management, and Work Order Management.
