Adding drill-through links in dashboards

As an editor or an administrator, you can add drill-through links in dashboards. With drill-through links, you can get more insight into your data by linking specific panels with other dashboards

Perform the following steps to add a drill-through link:

1. In BMC Helix Dashboards, open the dashboard in which you want to create a drill-through link.
2. Obtain the dashboard ID and name of the target dashboard.
   You can obtain the target dashboard ID and name from the URL of the dashboard as shown in the following screenshot:
   
3. Under Panel links, click Add link.
   You can add only a single data link.
4. Enter a title for the link.
5. In the URL field, do the following:
   1. Add the dashboard ID and name of the target dashboard as shown in the following screenshot:
      

   2. Add variables and their value as highlighted in the following screenshot:
      

      Points to note while adding the variables

      • Add the following before each variable name in the URL:
        var-
        For example, var-Asignee
      • Use the dollar sign $ and add the variable property in parenthesis for each variable.
        For example, $(Asignee)
      • The target dashboard is filtered according to the variables that you add in the URL.

      Example scenario:

      The following variables are added in the URL:

      var-Assignee=$(Assignee)&var-Status=$(Status)&var-Company=$(Assigned_Support_Company)

      The target dashboard is filtered as shown in the following screenshot:

      
      

      In the target dashboard, you can configure these variables from the dashboard settings. For instructions, see Setting-up-variables-for-dashboard-queries-filtering-data-and-panel-title-values.

      

6. (Optional) Click Open in new tab to choose to view the target dashboard in a new tab.
7. Save the link.
8. Save the panel and the dashboard.
