Creating dashboards from an SQL query



To create new dashboard

  1. Log in to BMC Helix Dashboards portal.
  2. On the navigation pane, perform one of the following steps:
    • Hover the cursor over Create create_icon.png and then click Dashboard.
    • Hover over Dashboards dashboard_icon_dec_push.png, click Browse, and then click New Dashboard.
  3. On the New dashboard page, click Add new panel.
  4. In the Query section, perform the following actions:

    • Select BMC Helix as the data source.
    • Select Service Management as Query Type.
    • Select SQL as Type.
    • Select Table in the Format As field.

      Important

      You can select Time series in the Format As field for Pie chart and Graph visualizations. For remaining visualizations, you must select Table in this field.

    1. In the SQL Editor, paste the SQL query that was copied and modified in Exporting-and-modifying-an-SQL-query-from-BMC-Helix-ITSM-Smart-Reporting.

  5. Select the appropriate visualization panel.

    Based on the visualization panel type, you can make changes to the display parameters and configurations. The following table provides few examples of display parameters based on the visualization panel:

  6. Once finished, click Save. 
    You will see your report in BMC Helix Dashboards now.


 

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
