Creating dashboards from an SQL query

To create new dashboard

1. Perform one of the following steps:
   • On the Home page, click Add  and select New dashboard.
   • From the navigation menu , click Dashboards. On the Dashboards page, click New, and then click New Dashboard.
2. On the New dashboard page, click Add visualization.

3. In the Query section, perform the following actions:

   • Select BMC Helix as the data source.
   • Select Service Management as Query Type.
   • Select SQL as Type.

   • Select Table in the Format As field.

     Important

     You can select Time series in the Format As field for Pie chart and Graph visualizations. For remaining visualizations, you must select Table in this field.

   1. In the SQL Editor, paste the SQL query that was copied and modified in Exporting-and-modifying-an-SQL-query-from-BMC-Helix-ITSM-Smart-Reporting.
      
      

      Click besides SQL Editor to maximize the editor window for better readability. 

4. Select the appropriate visualization panel.
   
   
   
   Based on the visualization panel type, you can make changes to the display parameters and configurations. The following table provides few examples of display parameters based on the visualization panel:

    

5. Save the changes. 
   The report is displayed in BMC Helix Dashboards.
