Visualizing data as records
Example: View incidents details in a custom panel
Let's say, as a tenant administrator, you want to view incident details in three different sections: customer information, status, and location. Using the BMC Record Details visualization, you create a dashboard as shown in the following image:
To configure the BMC Record Details visualization plug-in
- From the navigation menu
, click Dashboard.
- Click Add visualization.
- In the Query section, select BMC Helix and add your queries; see Configuring-dashboards-with-additional-customizations.
- In the Panel tab, expand Visualization and select BMC Record Details.
- Expand Display to configure the following elements:
- Specify a title: Specify the section title in this field or to add multiple sections, click Add Section.
- (Optional) You can add column values as titles in subsections of Printable dashboards.
- In the Specify a title field, press Ctrl+space or enter $ to list all the column names specified in the SQL query.
- Choose the appropriate name from the list up to 255 characters.
- Select fields: Select one or more associated fields based on your business needs.
- Add column styles for non Text type value: Using this option, you can select specific columns and define their styles. In the Select Column Style menu, choose between Text, JSON, and HTML formats.
- Repeat section: Select this option to display data from multiple responses. By default, the BMC Record Details plugin displays information for the first response only.
- Number of times to repeat section: Set how many times the response data should be repeated. The default value is 25 and the recommended maximum value is 200.
- Choose data positioning: Use this option to customize the appearance of data in the panel. You can remove the white space between a field and its value, as shown in the following image. By default, the row option is selected.
- Choose section styling: Use this option to customize the appearance of the section. By default, the default styling option is selected. If you choose to select custom, you can customize the background color, title color, and the key width (in %) for the data spacing between the field and its value in the panel.
- Save the panel.
Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
