Solaris Zone Host Details dashboard


The Solaris Zone Host Details dashboard provides the capacity usage of the selected zone host. You can use this information to identify capacity-specific issues in the selected host.

Important

Do not make the dashboard editable by using the Make editable option in the dashboard settings. If you want to customize the dashboard, we recommend that you create a copy of the dashboard and customize it.

The dashboard displays the capacity usage trend in charts. The GIB, MIB, or TIB units specified in the charts are the same as GB, MB, or TB.

To view the Solaris Zone Host Details dashboard

  1. Open BMC Helix Dashboards from BMC Helix Portal.
  2. From the navigation menumenu_icon.png, click Dashboards.
  3. Search for the Helix Continuous Optimization folder and select it.
  4. Click Solaris Zone Host Details.
  5. From the Host list, select a host to view its details.

You can also access this dashboard from the Solaris Zone Overview dashboard and the Solaris Dashboard.

The dashboard displays the following details of the selected host:

Configuration Details

Displays the configuration details of the zone host, such as hardware and CPU make and model, CPU cores, CPU threads, logical processors, real memory, and number of network interfaces.

Summary

Displays the following summary of the CPU usage, memory usage, disk I/O rate, and network I/O rate of the host.

  • Bar gauges that show the percentage of CPU, memory, and real memory usage
  • Charts that show the usage trend of the following capacity parameters for the selected period:
    • CPU usage in percentage
    • Memory and real memory usage in percentage
    • Disk I/O rate
    • Network I/O rate

Displays charts that show the trend of CPU utilization and other CPU details.

Number of logical processors that are configured in the host.

  • Total Virtual Processors: SUM (Zone CPU_NUM)
  • Host: CPU_NUM 
  • vCPU Density: Total Virtual Processors / Host CPU_NUM

Virtual CPU Utilization - Top 10 Zones

Average virtual CPU utilization of the top 10 zones.

For each zone: CPU_UTIL > Top 10 
Average virtual CPU_UTIL: SUM (Zone CPU_UTIL) / HOST GM_ON_NUM (line chart) 

Physical CPU Utilization - Top 10 Zones

Average physical CPU utilization of the top 10 zones.

  • For each zone Physical CPU Utilization: (Zone CPU_UTIL * Partition CPU_NUM) / Host CPU_NUM -> Top 10 + Other  
  • Host: CPU_UTIL

Processor States Breakdown

Percentage distribution of processor states.

  • Host:CPU_UTIL_SYSTEM 
  • Host:CPU_UTIL_USER 
  • Host:CPU_UTIL_IDLE 
  • Host:CPU_UTIL_WAIO

CPU Queue Length

Number of processes that are ready to be scheduled for the CPU time.

Memory usage (in percentage) of the host that is normalized by the total memory of the host.

Host.MEM_UTIL, Host.MEM_REAL_UTIL

Real Memory Usage

Total real memory usage (in GB) of the host.

The following metrics add up to TOTAL_REAL_MEM:

  • File System Cache: Host.MEM_CACHED 
  • Free Memory: Host.MEM_FREE 
  • System Memory: Host.MEM_SYSTEM
  • Process Memory: Host.TOTAL_REAL_MEM - (MEM_CACHED + MEM_FREE + MEM_SYSTEM)

Paging Breakdown

Total number of disk blocks that were paged in and out of memory per second.

  • Host:MEM_PAGE_IN_RATE 
  • Host:MEM_PAGE_OUT_RATE

Virtual Memory Config vs Used

Amount of virtual memory used out of total memory.

  • Host Total Virtual Memory: MEM_VIRTUAL_TOTAL 
  • Host Virtual Memory Used: MEM_VIRTUAL_FREE

Scan Rate

Number of pages that are scanned per second.

Memory Utilization - Top 10 Zones

Percentage memory usage of the top 10 zones.

Queue Size - Top 10 Disks

Length of the physical CPU queue.

Average rate of data transfer for the top 10 zones.
