Solaris LDOM Details dashboard


The Solaris LDOM Details dashboard provides summarized and detailed information about the capacity-specific parameters of the selected LDOM. You can use this information to analyze the LDOM capacity.

Important

Do not make the dashboard editable by using the Make editable option in the dashboard settings. If you want to customize the dashboard, we recommend that you create a copy of the dashboard and customize it.

The dashboard displays the capacity usage trend in charts. The GIB, MIB, or TIB units specified in the charts are the same as GB, MB, or TB.

To view the Solaris LDOM Details dashboard

  1. Open BMC Helix Dashboards from BMC Helix Portal.
  2. From the navigation menumenu_icon.png, click Dashboards.
  3. Search for the Helix Continuous Optimization folder and select it.
  4. Click Solaris LDOM Details.
  5. From the LDOM list, select an LDOM to view its details.

You can also access this dashboard from the Solaris LDOM Overview dashboard and the Solaris Dashboard.

The dashboard displays the following details of the selected LDOM:

Summary

Displays the following summary of the CPU usage, memory usage, disk I/O rate, and network I/O rate of the LDOM.

  • Bar gauges show the percentage usage of CPU, memory, and real memory
  • Charts show the usage trend of the following parameters for the selected period:
    • CPU usage in percentage
    • Memory and real memory usage in percentage
    • Disk I/O rate in TB per sec
    • Network I/O rate in KB per sec

Configuration Details

Displays the system hardware configuration details, such as hardware and CPU make and model, CPU cores, CPU threads, and memory capacity.

File Systems

Displays the capacity-specific parameters of file systems, such as size, days to saturation, and read and write operations.

Read Rate (MB/s)

Number of read operations that occur per second in a file system. 

BYFS_READ_BYTE_RATE

Write Rate (MB/s)

Number of write operations that occur per second in a file system.

BYFS_WRITE_BYTE_RATE

Read Rate (op/s)

Number of read request operations that are processed per second by a file system.

BYFS_READ_RATE

Write Rate (op/s)

Number of write request operations that are processed per second by a file system.

BYFS_WRITE_RATE

Total Rate (op/s)

Total number of read and write request operations that are processed per second by a file system.

BYFS_TOTAL_RATE

CPU Profile

Displays charts that show the trend of CPU usage and other CPU-related parameters.

Physical CPU usage for a domain.

  • Physical CPU Capacity:

Processors Configured

Number of CPU cores that are configured on the selected LDOM.

  • Physical Processors: host.CPU_NUM
  • Domain Dedicated Processors: domain.CPU_NUM

Processor States Breakdown

Percentage distribution of the processor states. 

  • System: domain.CPU_UTIL_SYSTEM
  • User: domain.CPU_UTIL_USER
  • Wait: domain.CPU_UTIL_WAIO
  • Idle: domain.CPU_UTIL_IDLE

CPU Queue Length

Number of processes that are ready to be scheduled for the CPU time.

domain.CPU_RUN_QUEUE/CPU_NUM

Memory Profile

Displays charts that show the trend of memory usage and other memory-related parameters.

Memory Utilization

Real Memory Usage

Real memory utilization of the LDOM excluding the amount of memory used by the buffer cache normalized by the memory configured for the LDOM.

The following metrics add up to TOTAL_REAL_MEM:

  • File System Cache: domain.MEM_CACHED 
  • Free Memory: domain.MEM_FREE
  • System Memory: domain.MEM_SYSTEM
  • Process Memory:
  • domain.TOTAL_REAL_MEM - (MEM_CACHED + MEM_FREE + MEM_SYSTEM)

Virtual Memory Config vs Used

Amount of total and available virtual memory.

Total Virtual Memory: domain.MEM_VIRTUAL_TOTAL
Virtual Memory Used: domain.MEM_VIRTUAL_FREE

Scan Rate

Number of pages that are scanned per second.

domain.MEM_PAGE_SCAN_RATE

Paging Breakdown

Total number of disk blocks that were paged in and out of memory per second.
