Upgrading from the Windows 64-bit default installation path


The upgrade procedure in this section addresses an upgrade from any previous version that uses the default Windows 64-bit installation path (C:\Program Files(x86)) to version 7.7.00.

Warning
  • If you installed the previous version of the product using the default Windows 64-bit installation directory, the installation utility halts the upgrade and provides a message stating that you must perform manual steps before you can proceed.
  • Due to an update in one of the bundled software components, BMC Dashboards for BSM no longer supports installation in the default Windows 64-bit directory.
  1. Stop the BMC Atrium DIL service and the Tomcat service that BMC Dashboards for BSM uses.
  2. Back up the BMC Dashboards for BSM installation directory.
  3. Start the BMC Atrium DIL service.
  4. Perform the steps documented in the To back up the content section.
  5. Start the Tomcat service that BMC Dashboards for BSM uses.
  6. Uninstall version 7.6.00 of BMC Dashboards for BSM. For more information, see Uninstalling.
  7. Install version 7.6.00 of BMC Dashboards for BSM to a directory other than C:\Program Files (x86). For more information, see Installing.
  8. Stop the Tomcat service that BMC Dashboards for BSM uses.
  9. Delete the derby directory (%BSMDASHBOARDS_HOME%\BSMDashboards\derby) from the version 7.7.00 installation.
  10. Copy the derby directory from the backup you created in step 2 to the version 7.7.00 installation.
  11. Perform the steps documented in the To restore the content section.
  12. Start the Tomcat service used by BMC Dashboards for BSM.
  13. Upgrade the product to version 7.7.00 using the procedures documented in Upgrading BMC Dashboards for BSM.
  14. If you use BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management as a data source, perform the procedure documented in Configuring communication with BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management.
  15. If you added any comments to your %BSMDASHBOARDS_HOME%\DIL\CIS\conf\dil\dil.properties file and want them preserved, you will need to manually copy them over from the backup to the new installation.
