Upgrading BMC Dashboards for BSM

Use this procedure if both the BMC Dashboards for BSM application server and the BMC Atrium DIL component are installed on the computer.

  1. Back up your system.
  2. From the BMC Dashboards for BSM product CD for your operating system, or from the directory where you downloaded the product, start the installation program:
    • For Windows, if the autorun service does not initiate the installation program, double-click setup.cmd.
    • For UNIX, run setup.cmd.
  3. On the welcome page, click Next.
  4. On the license agreement page, review the license, select I agree to the terms of the license agreement, and click Next.
The upgrade program verifies the environment against the requirements. If the computer does not meet all the recommendations and requirements, the upgrade program issues an error message that identifies the issues.
  5. If you are performing the upgrade on a host that is connected to a remote BMC Atrium DIL server, the Data Integration Layer (DIL) installation page appears. Select one of the following and click Next:
    • Install a New Server if you want to install a new version 7.7.00 BMC Atrium DIL server on the local host. You must have at least 2 GB of memory to install locally.
    • Search for Servers if you want the product to use an existing version 7.7.00 BMC Atrium DIL server installed in your environment. To use this option, ensure that the version 7.7.00 BMC Atrium DIL server is running.
    • Enter an Existing Server if you want the product to use a version 7.7.00 BMC Atrium DIL server installed on a host that you specify.
  6. If the host name verification page appears, verify the name of the host that is to be used to access the console using a web browser.
If you want to access the product using the server alias, use the value assigned as the hostname (CNAME) or the canonical name alias (CNAME Alias).
  7. Review the summary information and click Next.
