Network requirements
BMC Dashboards for BSM requires an application server. You can install Apache Tomcat as your application server when you install BMC Dashboards for BSM, or you can use a Tomcat application server that is already installed.
If you install Tomcat, you must supply the following port numbers:
- Tomcat HTTP port (default 8080)
- Tomcat HTTPS port (default 8443)
- Tomcat shutdown port (default 8085)
If those ports are available, the installation program uses them. If those ports are unavailable, the installation program selects new default port values from the pool of unused port numbers between 1 and 65535. If you prefer to specify different ports, the ports must be open and available or the installation cannot proceed.
In addition, the following port numbers are required for the use of the BMC Atrium DIL software:
- Server Service port (default 9400)
- JDBC-ODBC port (default 9401)
- Composite Monitor port (default 9402)
- Composite Database port (default 9403)
If those ports are unavailable, the installation program increments the numbers by 10 until it finds a range that is available.
In addition, the BMC Atrium DIL component has its own assigned port number, which is any of the following port numbers: 6300, 3683, 3695, 4568, 1313, 1769, 1770, 1828, 2059, 2494, 2665, 2717, 2718, 2828, 3083, and 3604. When the BMC Atrium DIL service begins, it tries each port number, in the order listed in the previous sentence, until it finds an available port. While the BMC Atrium DIL Server always attempts to listen on this port, it is used by the BMC Dashboards for BSM installation utility only during a dual server implementation, when the option Search for Servers or Enter an Existing Server option is chosen on the Data Integration Layer (DIL) installation page.
